Vote to be Held at March 19th Meeting

Hello to our Society’s membership!

As you know, we’ve been working on our bylaws to make them better reflect the Bedford Historical Society of today.  We’ve eliminated the Executive Committee, given that the whole Board of Directors must be involved in our Society’s major decisions; we’ve largely eliminated the definition of committees from the bylaws while enumerating four standing committees that must exist; we have made the number of the Society’s Directors more flexible so that we can more readily adjust to arising or changing needs; and we’ve decided that while the membership continues to elect the Directors, as it legally must, the Directors should elect the officers.

This draft of our proposed new bylaws will be on our website until our March 19th meeting. At the beginning of that meeting you, the members, will vote on approving these new bylaws. Please take some time to look through them! Then come to the March meeting with your thoughts and ready to vote. On behalf of the hard-working committee that produced these new bylaws, I hope you will support them.  Thank you!
