A Bedford Cast of Characters: Fascinating Folks from Bedford’s Past by Sharon Lawrence McDonald provides biographies of a dozen people who lived in Bedford during the 18th and 19th centuries and a handful of stories starring a Bedford cast of characters.
Historic Properties and Neighborhoods of Bedford, Massachusetts by Kathleen Kelly-Broomer, edited by Alethea Yates, provides detailed descriptions of the history and architecture of more than 300 houses and other noteworthy buildings, plus the origins of Bedford’s most historically significant neighborhoods.
The Ina Mansur Reader: Tales of Bedford, Massachusetts by Ina Mansur, edited by Alethea Yates. Ina Mansur became one of Bedford, Massachusetts’ most noted historians. With her husband Lawrence adding illustrations, the couple published many books about Bedford during the 1970s and 1980s, including, A New England Church, 1730-1834; A Pictorial History of Bedford, Massachusetts, 1729 to Modern Times; and Bedford Center in the 1800s.
In 1975, Ina began writing a column called “Bedford Profiles,” for the local newspaper. By the time of her death in 1988, she had published over 100 of these articles. This book offers the complete series of Bedford Profiles and provides future generations of Bedford citizens and researchers access to Ina’s knowledge and scholarship.
